We sincerely invite you to visit us and explore more innovation and expertise!
★ Newly Upgraded [Download Center] Now Online!
To make it easier for customers to access information, we have fully optimized the 'Download Center' on our official website. Commonly requested items include:
• Declaration of Restricted Substances (RoHS/REACH/ /TSCA/POP/PFAS/Halogen-Free)
• Conflict Minerals Statement(CMRT/EMRT)
• Shelf Life of Unopened Products
These documents are available for immediate download. If any materials are missing, we warmly welcome your feedback!
★ Certified National Renewable Energy Certificate
Our Hualien Plant in Taiwan has adopted solar power and has been certified by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) with a National Renewable Energy Certificate. Estimated annual solar power generation: 350,747 kWh, equivalent to the yearly electricity usage of approximately 100 households in Taiwan.
We continue to support energy transition and carbon neutrality through real action.
★ Discharge Resistor Applications and Solutions
In applications such as power modules, inverters, and energy storage systems, discharge resistors play a critical role in releasing residual charges from capacitors or circuits after power-off. This prevents electric shock risks and malfunction, ensuring the safety of both equipment and personnel. While the industry often uses multiple R-chip resistors in series/parallel combinations to meet power and voltage requirements, this approach has several drawbacks:
1. High component count – Takes up valuable board space
2. Complex assembly – Increases BOM and soldering steps
3. Reduced reliability – Failure of a single resistor may compromise the entire discharge function
※ Optimization Recommendation:
Use Firstohm’s SRM / SWM Series Anti-Surge MELF Resistors, key benefits:
• High power density – Compact size with strong power handling, reducing total component count
• Excellent pulse/surge tolerance – Ideal for pre-charge and discharge circuits
• High reliability – Excellent thermal stability and long-term performance
※ Real-world Success Story
Project: EV PDU (OBC Discharge Application)
Discharge Condition: 1000V → 60V within 1 second, Capacitance: 210μF
Original Setup: 20 pcs 1KΩ 1206 R-Chip resistors (5 series × 4 parallel)
Improved Setup: SWM200 2W 1KΩ × 4 pcs (2 series × 2 parallel), successfully replaced original setup

This redesign reduced component count by 80% while improving reliability and saving space.
Firstohm’s SRM / SWM series Anti-Surge resistors provide high power density and outstanding surge resistance, making them the ideal discharge resistor solution. They simplify designs, reduce costs, and improve overall system reliability - offering engineers a more optimized solution.
